I can't help but feel that with a few balance tweaks and a local server this would make an excellent single player experience.ī) Lifeless worlds - This is more troubling to me really Ryzom, an MMO that launched around the same time as WoW, had a great sense of life to its world, creatures wouldn't just attack you, they'd hunt other creatures if there was no player meat to go for (you could sit on a hill and watch a complete 'circle of life' play out). But when it came down to it the mechanics and feel of the game just didn't sit right.Ī) Its fundamentally a single player game with occasional grouping & a chat window.Ī) Single player game - I'm midway through the leveling process ~25, but beyond about 4 quests I've not had to work with other players at all other players in general are quite sparse in the world in fact (which is likely a good thing as many of the 'kill x' quests would take ages if 100s of people were all trying to do them at once). I wanted to love the game, I really did, HUGE Star Wars fan, spent far too much money on expanded universe books etc. I unsubscribed from SW:TOR during my initial free play time for reason's I'd been worried about during the beta, but which despite protestations of the beta client being really behind the dev client, turned out to remain real issues through to release. So I'm not going to post a diatribe on the official forums, if you want to see some very pissed off people posting very annoyed comments then the general forum on the official site is a great resource.
